kernal panic missing init ?

Dan
I followed all of the instructions for downloading a linux image using the
latest linux images but now I get a kernel panic

Warning: unable to open an initial console.

kernel panic not syncing no init found
Failed to execute /linuxrc. Attempting defaults...
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to
kernel.

Any ideas where I went wrong?

Dan
Got it!

I followed the instructions about 5 times to no avail but then I tried
something different.

 x-partition the drive
 v-download supervivi
 k-installed the kernel
 y- here is the change

the instructions say to download root_mizi.img at this point but instead
I used root_qtopia.img and this worked fine...

Not sure why it worked as I am a complete newbie but thought this might
help others.....

I have the same problem with both root_mizi and root_qtopia

Hey guys, i got the same problem!

Check your zImage file!!

I was using the wrong zImage file and getting the kernel_panic error.

My LCD screen is 3.5\" and i was using the 7.0\" image. When i
installed
the correct zImage it works.

Hi all,

Please check your zImage as Eduardo said.
If you use correct zImage for LCD it will work.

I can't use root_mizi too, but it all work with root_qtopia.

I have the same problem with root_mizi.

In the manual there is written to download root_default.img but I do not
find it.

Thanks

I'm having the same problem, I have checked I am using the correct zImage
file, but I get the same error message when I use the "root_mizi" file:

Warning: unable to open an initial console.
Failed to execute /linuxrc. Attempting defaults...
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to
kernel.

"root_qtopia" works.

Anybody resolved this?

Mizi GUI has a bug in it, either doesnt support the LCDs or it just sucks,
QTopia works and seems to have a better development base (QT-embedded) so
I'd just stick with it and not worry. But yea that last sync is once you
have the hardware interface down and the linux software installed, then
you're putting the sort of graphical interface to linux down, and it is
having an issue initializing.
