x710 LCD back light control

sfriend
hi
I have a x710 (7" capacitive touch model) LCD connected to a nanoPi2-Fire
running debian.
All seems great but I can't figure out how to control lcd backlight level
and/or turn it on/off via command line.
I have tired:
xset dpms force off
and:
setterm -powerdown 1
but none of them works.

Does anybody know of anyway to control backlight level and/or turn LCD on
off?

thanks
