Android Matrix Kit support

Hello,

Bit of a nooby here.

How can I use the GPIO martrix kit components in a android build? 

EG. blink LEDs from an android app
or display lines on text on the LCD
or make use of the range sensors.

Can someone link a guide or give some pointers?

Please note, the latest matrix build does not work with the M3 (in Debian)
