Hello I understand that the ARM CPU works at 3.3V supply. I want to connect my hardware to the com1 port of the mini2440 board. The connector for com1 has 4 terminals - which provide me with 5V supply. My logic also works on 5V. If I connect the rxd and txd of the mini2440 directly to my logic, will it be ok? Are these signals 5V tolerant? I assume that since the connector provides 5V supply alongwith the com signals, they must be! I checked up the S32440 datasheet also, but could not make out clearly about it. Please advise.
Connecting Serial Port
Your logic may have 5V tolerant inputs, but as you have found the S3C2440 may not be. My understanding if that older members of this family, ie the S3C2410 had more ports that were 5V tolerant. Use a "voltage translator" chip to do the interfacing. Haven't got the hardware in front of me. 74HCxxxx?
