Capacitive Touch 7"

TheRegnirps
Well, a couple hours ago I posted a note about using the new display on a
Tiny210S yesterday. Now it is gone? What is the deal? Forum police are
active?

Dave McLaughlin
That's a shame as I would like to hear about this display as I am very
interested in it.

Hope you can post it again.

Laurent
so am i !

do you know if it could be possible to use it with a mini2440 ?
people are note very happy with the 7" resistive and i'm looking for a
capacitive alternative.

Thanks for the feedback,
Laurent

TheRegnirps
So, I set up the Tiny210S with the 7" capacitive touch display. It starts
up in Android and is as sensitive as an iPhone or iPad and recognizes
gesture. Very cool! The black bezel looks nice and has the Android home
button. It takes some getting used to after the pushing on the resistive
touch pads.

I put on an SDWiFi card I had on a Mini6410 and with Android it was a snap
to be on my home WiFi and browsing. ARMWorks only has about 5 left at
andahammer.com. The DVD has Android 2.x (don't remember exactly) Android 4,
Linux with Qtopia file system and Qt4,and CE6.0r3 plus the sources/BSPs and
tool chains. I give it "Thumbs Up".

Where can we buy this screen?
Will you sell yours? :)

TheRegnirps
ARMWorks is ordering some more boards and will get some extra screens. I
don't know the details of compatibility yet. There is a 4 wire connector
and wires on the cap touch not found on the others and it mates with a
little connector on the Tiny210-SDK. So, more details to come!

Dave McLaughlin
Normally capacitive touch has a build in controller on the cable and the
ones I have seen connect via I2C to the OS. At least that appears to be the
case with the Android ones I have seen so far.

Mexx, check out Newhaven as they have a 5" LCD with capacitive touch. No
drivers for it yet and I am tempted to get one myself to play with as the
timing seems to the close to the existing 5" LCD with the Mini210.

Dave...

Thx for the answer Dave & Charles
Meantime I found out that Mini210S with 7" capacitive screen is available
on the market with really good pricing at www.armdevs.com
I have contacted them for screen only, but the answer that I got is:
Quote:
Only the new version board, Mini210S can support Capacitive touchscreen.
It have 45Pin LCD connector, so you can't use it with your Mini210 board.
Unquote

Still, when I look at specs of 210S board, I see 41-pin LCD connector

TheRegnirps
They are not supposed to be selling outside China, but yes, the Tiny210-SDK
has an extra little connector for the 4 discrete wires from the new touch
screen. I think it is also CON7 on the Mini210S but have only used the
display on the Tiny210-SDK.

TheRegnirps
Note that armdevs.com = CoreWind = minidevs.com = wishop.net = Mainland
China unauthorized reseller and they have been posting as an open source
software site to get traffic from this forum.

Thx for clarification.
This is something that I found googling and my intention was not to help
them increase hitrate on their site :)

TheRegnirps
Yes, recently they have added a Wiki that is sort of English and very good
English versions of the retail sites. They even say they are North and
South America and European Distributors and use office pictures from web
sites of various European companies. Then some new posts say they are an
open source software site. They are in Shenzhen and with so many names,
FriendlyARM can not tell when they are selling to them plus they can pick
up boards retail from several booths at the SEG building. They are not on
the FriendlyARM distributor list and certainly don't have the ARMWorks two
year warranty.

I want to know DPI of Capacitive Touch 7 which has resolution 800 X 480

TheRegnirps
I think it is 133.3. These wide aspect displays are not perfect triangles
like the 640x480, 320x240, etc. which are 3:4:5 right triangles. However,
the diagonal inches is exact on the ones I have measured in the past.

Dear all.
You can buy a 3.5", 4.3", 5.0", 5.7" and 7.0" CTP to put on your TFT! The
interface is either I2C or SPI. These CTP's sells at different distributors
like DMB Technics, Glyn and others. Surf the internet for EDT (Enhanced
Display Technology) CTP's..

Kind regards,

Slynge
