Hi all, If anyone is interested in a simplified 3D model of the Mini210 then I have one freely available for download from this link at 3DContentCentral. http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/parts/download-Part.aspx?id=357784&c... The model is not 100% accurate but it should be enough to help design a housing for it. I have only concentrated on the connectors and not the CPU, RAM etc. Power connector or switch is not shown as I use the 4 pin Molex for this. You can add it if you need it. I created it so I could have a 3D model within my PCB design software to allow me to create a motherboard for it to plug into. If you would like a version without the 16mm mounting pillars let me know? Dave...
Mini210 3D model available
Hi all, In addition to this, I have made 3D model of plastic frame for A70 LCD screen, maybe someone find its usefull http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/Download-Model.aspx?catalogid=171&id...
Nice work Mexx. Might be handy for some. I create my own panels in aluminium using Front Panel Express. Gives even a 1 off project a professional look. www.schaeffer-ag.de Cheers Dave...
We are thinking the same way... Just preparing housing for my project that I will order from Front Panel express. thx anyway
Same here. Going to use their housing profiles to make a complete housing. Just waiting for the finger print module to arrive so I can work out how to mount that and access from the front panel. Attached is an image of the design with the original RFID but I am going to replace this with a finger print module instead. :) Dave...
Nice work Dave, I havent use their services yet, but I see that they look like serious company. Final product is not cheap but since this is prototype.... Since I am in process of preparing drawings for housing, I will share housing profile 3D drawing, maybe someone finds it usefull. Hopefully I will be able to upload housing dwg by the end of the week :) http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/Download-Model.aspx?catalogid=171&id...
Hi Mexx, Thanks. The panels from FPE are excellent and as you are also using 3D modelling, as long as you input the correct coordinates, they will align just nicely. The engraving makes it look that little more professional too. Yes, the price is a little high but once you see your end product it just looks great. Check out the attached image. The front panel was created with the FPE service and fits into the box shown. They even did a nice job with the logo. My client was well pleased with this. I only built 2 of them and the final professional look instead of a hand cut panel was worth the cost. I assume you are going to use the USA company and not the one in Germany? I found that the USA site does not offer the little press in studs and bushes that Germany offers. These allow me to fit the LCD to the rear of the front panel and avoid screw holes to fix it with. Look forward to seeing your end product. I'll upload mine when I have it working. I got the fingerprint device this afternoon so I am working on the 3D model just now for mounting this. Dave...
Hi Dave, That is a neat design, well done. I am from Croatia so I will go with German company due to the lower shipping and customs cost. Press in studs is something that I really need so this is good hint. Did you make housing design with their software becaouse I dont see any option there for press in studs. regards Danijel
Hi Danijel, If you look on their website they tell you how to support the press in studs and bushes. The software does not directly support housings. You have to create each panel yourself. Not too difficult if you have them already designed in the 3D software. Just an extra step to create them in FPE. For press in studs you create a 4.6mm diameter cavity that is 1.1mm deep. For press in bushes, you create a 5.6mm diameter cavity that is also 1.1mm deep. These are of course placed on the rear. I do this in my 3D CAD designs too and them create the studs or bushes as a separate 3D model. Quick and easy to do. I put a note about the size need in the comments section of the panel. They are very helpful so if you have any questions, just send them an email. Hope this helps. Dave... PS.. Which 3D software are you using? I am using Alibre Design.
Dave, thanks a lot for informations provided, I really appreciate it. I am using combination of AutoCad and Autodesk 123d. I have license for Autocad LT which doesnt have support for 3D so i have to make 3D models in 123d. I will take a look at Alibre since 123 is veeeery hungry for processor and memory, it is slowing me a lot
And FriendlyARM 7" Innolux AT070TN83 LCD screen Without Touch glass http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/parts/download-Part.aspx?id=376090&c...
Hi Danijel, I saw your AT070TN83 tonight. Nice work. I might use it for my project. :o) I can add the touch screen I already have. You should check out Alibre Design. For value it can't be beat and I do all my design work with it. It works really well under Windows 7 64 bit. You do need a good 3D card but any of the cheap gaming ones work well and most decent laptops these days have a good 3D card. Dave... PS.. I updated my alarm system to use FingerPrint now :o) Going to get the PCB and the panels made for it in the next 2 weeks.
And Touch screen glass for 7" AT070TN83 http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/Download-Model.aspx?catalogid=171&id... hope this is usefull to somebody...
Nice work Danijel, I have just submitted my design to Schaeffer and it should be shipping around the 6th Aug. Can't wait to put it together. Just got the IO PCB to finish tracking and then I am ready to send it off to manufacture. Attached is a simple 3D image of my design. The sides of my box are going to be clear perspex that I may spray paint on the rear. Will wait and see what it looks like first with the clear. The hole on the right of the front panel is the fingerprint scanner :o) I would be interested to see your completed design once the final unit is built. I see that you created a chamfer on the front opening. For me I create a cavity on the rear leaving 0.5mm of front panel thickness so that the LCD is close to the front. Dave...
Hi Dave, Nice design, spray paint on the rear could give interesting effect to it. Good idea with the cavity on rear side of the panel. This cavity makes it easier to fix LCD in place.... I will consider it. BTW, what material are you using between front panel and LCD? Only thing that I could find is two side 1mm adhesive foam tape, but it is sticky on both sides. http://export.farnell.com/pro-power/hsa-black-1x19x10/tape-2-sided-foam-...
Hi Danijel, I get a batch of non sticky gaskets made by a company called Marrian Asia based out of Singapore. As I do a lot of LCD projects I get them to make me a batch load of different sizes. That tape you listed is rather wide at 10mm. Better to try and find something that is 1 sided only as it makes it easier to align. Drop me an email with your contact details and I will pass on the contact details for Marrian. They offered me a cheap prototype option on my first order (dave@axoninstruments.biz) Dave...
