PoE for mini2440?

zmi
Hi, I'm thinking about buying a mini2440 w/o LCD, but can find no
information if that board can be powered via PoE? That would save the need
for a power supply and power cable and would be of great help.

I'm pretty sure that mini2440 IS NOT PoE powered.

Oh pitty. Is there any similar nice board capable of Linux but with PoE
(Power over Ethernet)? I'd want that in an environment where no high
voltage electricity should be, so PoE would be very nice.

Had a look at the schematics. Seems to me the only problem is getting the
power from the ethernet cable to the mini2440.

If you can get the power via PoE to where the mini2440 is located could you
have a "beak-out"box so that you can get the power, apply it to a switching
or linear 5Volt regulator then feed that into the DC power socket on the
mini2440?

You will also have to prevent the power from getting to the mini2440's
ethernet connector, as it is not configured for PoE.

Just a thought!

What about this idea?

Looks to be a simple cable but it would require a power supply as the POE
voltage is not likely to be +5V.

There are splitters and injectors and power supplies at andahammer.com. I
have some cool uRata DC/DC converters shaped like TO-220 parts that can
take something like 7 to 37 volts and deliver 5 or 3.3 at 1.5A. About $3.50
from Digikey. I'll look for the part numbers.
