SD Card type

E Ridderby
Hi!

As there are in fact several standards för SD Cards [Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sd_card ]:

Standard SD: 1 MB to 4 GB
SDHC: 4 GB to 32 GB
SDXC: 32 GB to 2 TB

I wounder which of them is on the Mini 2440, what is the max size of the SD
Card?

Erik

I used a 256 MB SD and a 4GB SDHC. Both works.

I am looking for SDCH (32Gb) or preferably SDXC arger like 64 or 128 Gb.
Its for music storage ans I do not see the need of greater than 128Gb
unless movies are involved.

The differences between them are clearly explained from a user perspective
(one gets more memmory) but I don't have the $1000 in my hoby budget to get
the specs. Anybody know of the API differences?

My main thought is: as there are same number of pinns, and probably the
same voltage levels, the differences lies in the protocoll thus possibly
only need changes in the low level software, thus be possible to implement
without HW changes :)

This do of course imply that there is not a driver circuit between the MCU
and the SD slot.

Another feasible way is to us the SD-card as OS disk and add a Compact
Flash on the side. CF can contain up to 128 Gb current standard (64Gb are
quite expensive, I found one for €560 in Sweden (not known to be low
price). Still this is comparable with a mini SATA/PATA drive but with
faster sinking prices.
