Thee are a lot of things that need to be working properly to even turn an
I/O port on and off.

If you just want to make things happen rather than spending years digging
into the detail than I suggest you invest your time in a BSP with a good
manual.

He has written a section on turning a LED on and off, plus a heap of other
useful things.

Or search <LED> on the forum and see what is involved from the low-level.

Also, there is a sample LED program on the DVD.
