MTBF/life of mini2440

Slash
Hi,
I have a mini2440, 1 GB RAM. I wanted to ask if anyone has used it long
enough to determine it's MTBF/life etc. I intend to use the board as a mini
server, which will just upload/download data. Can I keep it powered on for
2 days without worrying? Also, do I need any cooling system?

Thanks.

I wouldn't base MTBF on one or two people's experience.

This board, especially without the screen running, consumes so little power
that internal heating probably wouldn't be the limitation.

Keeping things cool is certainly one way to help them live longer.

It could be an "easier life" leaving it running all the time, rather than
turning it on and off. Mine has been turned on and off, say 300-400 times.

If you still concerned, leave it running for a few hours and take a thermal
image of the board OR use your little finger to probe for hot spots. My
bet is on the 5V regulator chip.

We use the same processor in a commercial product that runs 24/7 in daytime
temperatures over 40C. Transmitter power reduction when internal
temperatures get to something like 50-55C.

Thanks for the info. I kept the board powered on for about 20 hrs, with it
just sitting idle. The CPU did feel warm, but it certainly wasn't hot. Also
the internal regulator seemed fine. The external power supply was quite hot
though, but you can always design your own power supply.

Hi,

My mini2440 is continuously running and in fact I'm using it for video
monitoring (2 usb web cam, no lcd display) of our grand-daughter since day
1 and now she is exactly 17mos.

Thanks,
Puma

Thank you, Puma for the info.

17 months is quite a long time. I intend to keep it running 5 days a week,
but with the LCD, in a similar application.
