Integrating a USB cam with FriendlyARM Qtopia

Tarin Bansal
Hi,
I am running Qtopia OS on my FriendlyARM system and trying to integrate a
Logitech C310 USB HDCam with it. I connected it the camera with the board
but the USB Camera application in Qtopia is not detecting the camera. What
could be the reason? What kind of cameras can be integrated with
FriendlyARM Qtopia? I would like a HD cam for clearer images.

Thanks.

Both mini2410 and mini6410 have USB1.1 host. Most camera chipsets after
detecting USB1.1 - limit their resolution. Don't be suprised if 320x240
will be your maximum resolution, even for still images. Some camera
chipsets already have jpeg compression, but if the driver doesn't support
setting quality - you will get heavly compressed 640x480 pictures.

Check, if plugging camera to USB port is detected by system. dmesg should
give something like "uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device..."

Thanks for the reply Tomasz. Chuck the HD part for now. My main priority is
to get a camera working. I have two cams here with me.
Connected both of them, started the USB Camera application and the
following happens-

Cam1 (non-HD)- "Cannot set video format"
Cam2 (HD) - The application works, but shows a black screen without any
display. And when I take a snap, it says - "Unable to load image".

What to do? :(
