Cross compile the HEAD of Linus' tree ?

I just got my mini2440 board and I am wondering if there's a way of cross
compiling Linus' tree in order to push it into the board ?

Do you have any tutorials about it?
Why aren't the drivers and configs that you provide on this site merged
into the mainline? Did anyone actually tried and it got rejected?

There is no problem to compile mainline kernel for mini2440(described in
lot posts here). Problem is not all changes are taken to mainline (also
discussed on some threads). Will look what is still missing and try to
resend patches and push maintainer to take them ;).
