Hi! ****My history with the device: I just received a micro2440. I am a bit... lost. I managed to connect to it via putty - there is a linux on it. uname -a says "Linux FriendlyARM 2.6.32.2-FriendlyARM However on the screen I only see a penguin and "Starting leds service..." with the prompt flashing... I guess I have to get Qtopia going... **** Anyways, I would like to develop some application onto it. It should work with the following: - java - network with wifi - network with LAN - network with USB 3G stick - usb/serial stripe card reader (usb hid device) And the question is: WHAT LINUX FLAVOR SHOULD I TRY TO GET RUNNING ON IT? - friendlyarm linux + qtopia? - emdebian + icewm? - android? Any help/suggestions are welcome/needed. THX CadilLACi
which linux to choose
I like emdebian for the fact that you can add debian repository and get lots of packages precompiled and ready to run. As for the kernel, I think it's best if you compile it for your specific needs.
Hi, I've found emdebian to be a little bit "slow/crappy" on the mini2440. I prefer to use Angstrom as rootfs... you can use the online builder to make an rootfs that will suit you. It have repositories support (opkg/ipk not debian) with a good number of software.... Zogzog.
