Connecting Relais

james
hi folks

i would like to connect 2 relais to my mini2440
1 for a Solenoid valve (24V)and
1 for a waterpump (230V)

my electric friend told me the best way is to use a 8 Channel IC with extra
12V power and switch the relais over the IC.

My idea was to connect the relais to gpio and switch them from the command
line witch something like on this page(portet for mini2440)
http://netus.acmesystems.it/doku.php?id=tutorial:gpio#how_linux_manages_...

what is the best bet to connect 2 relais, and when it is IC,
which whna work good under linux?

thx
james

nobody an idee or using relais?

You could try looking through the archives here:
http://bliterness.blogspot.com/
he did a relay project.

You should look at ULN2003...

It is designed for driving 7 relays. Up to 500mA each. If more current is
required then the channels can be paralleled for more current.

hi

@davef
yes i know that board
http://bliterness.blogspot.com/2009/05/mini2440-relay-board.html
http://bliterness.blogspot.com/2009/06/relay2440-week.html

there he use 2 i2c, but i only need 2 relais
is it better to use i2c or to connect the relais directly to the gpio.

i only need 2 relias.
what speak against connect the relais directly to the gpio?

htx and greets

Sure go ahead and connect to GPIO. See the other recent thread on GPIO.
