Has anyone got any experience running Ubuntu on the mini6410 that they could share? Is the normal procedure to put the Ubuntu image on a SD card and run it from there? Sounds like it could be slow. Or is something smart enough that the bits that need to run often end up in RAM or internal flash? Thanks, Dave
mini6410 Ubuntu
Hi, i have copied the images ordner from the dvd to the SD-CARD and i was able to run Ubuntu from the SD Card. I dont know if you could also use the nand flash (you would need about 1GB of flash) but if you use the nandflash you should switch to a yaffs2 filesystem ot any other "nand-flash" optimized system. I have booted my mini6410 up it starts a nice XFCE server and you can add application with apt-get... works well... but i would advise you to get a board with more ram (look for 256Mb ram) The speed is okay it seems to be a bit slow exspecially if you start more apps per time... but it could be a problem cause my board has only 128 mb ram Yours Andreas
Andreas, Thank you for the feedback. I would only buy the 256M RAM and 1GB flash model. To be able to apt-get cross-compiled applications seems to me to be a BIG step forward. Also, I am happy starting only one application at a time. Cheers, Dave
Hi, to be correct its xUbuntu. I want to use a 8Gb Kingston sdhc card in the future along with the xubuntu.. but first i must create a new fileimage in the size of the card...or i will put the complete rootfs on the card ... Lets play a bit.... b.t.w. i have also ordered the mini6410 with 256mb ram.... Yours Andreas
Andreas, < b.t.w. i have also ordered the mini6410 with 256mb ram.... And run Xubuntu from a SD card? Dave
