Capturing Just One Image From Cmos Cam

I've project on friendly arm board with cmos cam. I'm trying to capture an
image and send it to pc on serial port. However, i cannot take just one
shot from cmos cam. Did anybody tried this before? or do anyone know  how
can i do that? i'm waiting for all your answers. Thank you!
