Hi to all, I hope that some one can tell me how much can I trim down the WindowsCE 6.0 image, in order to preserve more RAM space to application execution. I need that the image to have Compact Framework 3.5, Network capabilities (Ethernet and wireless), ActiveSync, SQL Compact (and its data Provider). It would be a big help I some one can tell me what Items should I remove from the BSP catalog in order to get the Image as small as it gets. Thanks to all and best regards.
Shrink Windows CE Image Size
I would suggest that you remove Compact Framework and SQL from image. If you install them after then they use disk spage and not ram space... You can possibly get it to under 6MB if you remove the GUI completely, but you didn't say if you need the GUI.
Thanks for your response Errol. Definitely I need the GUI. I was able shrink the nk.bin image to 15Mb, by removing the Internet Explorer. It was a good start, but the truth is that I can't understand the Memory section under "System Properties" that shows the following: Storage Program memory memory 5744kB total 24896kB toatl - in use 11636kB in use The board is supposed to have 64MB in RAM. Now, I want to remove for example the Command Shell and maybe the Windows Explorer too. I will remove also the Compact Frameork and SQL for install it manually, to see how this change affects the Memory section. Thanks a lot again, and best regards.
By removing the Windows shell, I have been able to reduce the image size up to 14Mb. I let CF3.5 in the image as when I tried to installed via Activesync, an error was shown indicating that there is not enought RAM memory avalable for the process.
I was able to install CF3.5 after installing the NK.bin. It was long time back and i used cab file. I'll find it and let you know. Can you please explain how to extract the (*.exe,*.dll) from the compilation after compiling. Thanks
Hi Nalin: Could you explain better your question?--> "Can you please explain how to extract the (*.exe,*.dll) from the compilation after compiling"
