Beaming aplication

Hi,

  I recently bought a micro2440 plus the dev board with an 3.5'' touch
screen. As I was browsing through the software that comes pre-installed I
came across a menu item (from the taskbar) called "Beaming" with the
following sub-menus:
   - Receiver off
   - Receiver on
   - On for 5 minutes
   - On for 1 minute
   --------
   - Standard
   - Palm OS
   - Quoted ASCII

  What does this do ? Is it related to any infra-red or bluetooth dara
transmission ?
