Hi, I am absolutly new to embedded (but not in PC programming). I'm planning to replace my running PC-based Linux box by a micro2440 for saving power consumtion. The application controls a shortwave receiver. The receiver is connected by one USB cable. Once connected my Linux box makes 2 new device nodes: /dev/dsp1 and /dev/ttyUSB0 (/dev/dsp0 already exists for the onboard chip). From the /dev/dsp1 the sound is received and /dev/ttyUSB0 is used to setup the receiver (frequency, band width ...). The programs are very small. They only setup the receiver and record the sound to disk, scheduled by cron jobs. But they need these device nodes. Is it's possible at all to get running these kind of device nodes? Without spending hundreds of nights?

Hello, I think this is a unbelivable Joke. I buy this Board and no joke i would like to build a ShortWave Transceiver with over Network controlled Transceiver a selfbuilded Board Atmel-ARM7 after a while i found this 2440 Board and so i would like to build it in a Stand-alown Controller Board with 16 Wheels to turn the Allingments, RF-Gain, Bandwith LSB, Bandwith USB etc. on the Right Side is a Keyboard with arround 50Buttons this is the ONE Butten Konzept from Alfred and me. Reason was the Menue Folders in Modern Transceivers if you don't have the Manual so you can't found the right menue. This is the Readson why you have for each Funktion a Button to press. I'm searching a idea how i can connect a Normal Keyboard for USB. Best Reards weakbit
My project is working on a PC. I'd like port it to the micro2440. My problem ist: When the USB cable from the receiver is connected no device nodes (on PC: /dev/dsp1 and /dev/ttyUSB0) are created.
Which Project do've planed? You're running a Apache Server on it or your only using it as a Webcontroller for Storage? My Project is to remote a Short Wave Station over the Web but first of all i must learn to programming in C or C++ i have 2books and so i must learn this stuff. I only know Assemler well for embedded systems like the ATMEGA16 or older one the 80C51 (long time ago). I'm searching a Friendly Arm user for my Projects too becasue i'm not so fix in Linux so i need sometimes a little Help for the S3C2440 Where are you from Germany? If you would like to talk in German no Problem there. Das ist auch kein Problem. Best Regards Volker
My Project is receiving weather forecasts on my sailing boat. At this time, it's running on a laptop. But a laptop eats too much power. My problem asking this forum is mini2440 specific, not generic. Volker, you can mail me your problem on yahoo.de to reche_j in German. Best Regards Jürgen
