Getting the peak frequncy 533

tarek
Hi all,

i was wondering if there's any way to get the board working on the highest
frequency 533Mhz as stated in the S3c2440A data-sheet ,as i thought it
would be adjusting the pll.but after going through the source files of the
Pll and the clock in mach-s3c2440 ,,I found that these files are just stick
into th 400Mhx only ????

So will I adjusting the source files in the devisors and the upll and these
stuff ???

is it the way for that or there's another way ?

Appreciate your time

Thanks

Juergen Beisert
It seems most of these CPUs are not qualified to run at 533 MHz. On the
other hand you must consider your SDRAM is able to run at 133 MHz, because
the CPU clock and the SDRAM clock are coupled.

Hello Juergen,

I am able to increase freq. upto 420 Mhz and board are running perfectly
fine, but if i try to increase freq. above 420 (let's say 423) it gives me
random char at boot time and also when i try to repeat same command on
command line via up arrow.

can someone please let me know what is the max. freq. mini2440 board
operates very well without any problem at OS side.

From my end it is 420 Mhz max. with kernel 2.32.2.

Thanks for your help in advance

Hi freq,

I think these random characters come from an incorrect baud rate.
The baudrate frequency is generated from the main frequency devided by a
factor. It seems that the combination main freq and divider cannot give a
correct baudrate. Try a lower baudrate. It is possible that by increasing
your frequency it runs perfectly again.

TheRegnirps
BusError experimented with the frequencies and which ones will work with
video and RAM timing and all that. I would check his blogs.

Hello Luc,

Thanks for the reply, I will check the baud rate and will try again and let
u know the result.

One more question, If i run the board on 450 Mhz freq. will that affects
the board, I want to run this board in industry environment when machine
used to run 24x7.

does any one encounter the problem of running board with higher freq and
board acts weirdly.

Hello Freq,

I have also increased the clock Freq. to 500 Mhz, but I am not getting
increase in performance.

please some one help !!
