Very basic startup question

Hi All, I'm sorry for this very basic question, but I can't get past square
one.

I have a mini2440 with no LCD. The DVD that came with it is bad, so I
downloaded DNW 0.50A. I am using a windows desktop machine, and per the
"essentials" docs on the andahammer.com site I hooked up both a serial
cable and the USB cable (the A to B cable - slave port). I set the switch
to NOR.

I started the device and pushed its reset button. I am able to get DNW to
connect to the serial port but not the USB port. DNW seems to give me an
opportunity to upload a file to it but I'm not interested in putting
another op sys on it just yet, I would at least like to startup up the
Linux that came pre-loaded.

Since I could not make any progress with DNW I loaded up a terminal app,
but still no joy. I tried NOR and NAND, powering down and up and the reset
button but I can't get the mini2440 to give me any output.

So how do I talk to this thing? I saw the "first steps" thread, but that is
really the second step. The first step is just being able to talk with it
:-(

Thanks...

I made some progress. Using an ethernet cable and some scanning tools I
discovered that it comes up on IP address 192.168.1.230. You can log in as
