WINCE5.0 256MB Flash Load Error

matt_Damon
Hello,

I am trying to use the same WinCE5.0 image for 64/128/256MB flash versions
of MINI2440.
The image works fine on 64/128MB versions but on 256MB it loads good for
the first time but later on does not boot from NAND Flash. I am not sure
about the nboot. Did anyone had the same problem? This is the VIVI I
have:

##### FriendlyARM BIOS 2.0 for 2440 #####
[x] format NAND FLASH for Linux
[v] Download vivi
[k] Download linux kernel
[y] Download root_yaffs image
[a] Absolute User Application
[n] Download Nboot for WinCE
[l] Download WinCE boot-logo
[w] Download WinCE NK.bin
[d] Download & Run
[z] Download zImage into RAM
[g] Boot linux from RAM
[f] Format the nand flash
[b] Boot the system
[s] Set the boot parameters
[u] Backup NAND Flash to HOST through USB(upload)
[r] Restore NAND Flash from HOST through USB
[q] Goto shell of vivi
[i] Version: 0945-2K
Enter your selection:

Thanks.

Eduardo
I have the same problem WinCe5 work in 128mb and 1Gb boards.

In the 256mb wince5 run first time and after don't run. I noticed a message
through UART1 saying, "Unknown NAND Type"

Linux and Wince6 is working in 256mb boards

mindee
I think you used the wrong nboot, please try the version of 2010 later.

Eduardo
Mindee,

The nboot work for wince6 but is not working to wince5.

I don't think nboot is the problem, probably the problem is the WINCE5 BSP
that was used to generate the wince5 image.

mindee
the new nboot can't boot the old WinCE5/6 before 2010 .
and the old nboot can't boot the new wince5/6 after 2010 or later.
please check your nboot and wince5 bsp.

Eduardo
I try to use the nboot and images that are in the mini2440 DVD.

I think the nboot and images that are inside this DVD are compatible,
aren't they?

Thanks for response

mindee
They must be from one DVD, don't mix it with the old

Eduardo
Mindee,

I'm using the images and nboot from one DVD, i'm not mixing.

The WinCe5 images from this DVD that worked for 1Gb and 128Mb Boards don't
work for 256Mb Board.

WINCE6 and Linux working for all.

Please with some one have this 256mb board try to install a wince5.

I'm going crazy with this.

Thanks for responses Mindee.

Try this nboot for 256MB flash..

http://rapidshare.com/files/398198367/nboot_T35.bin.html

It should work

jeangr
I have same problems with wince5 (BSP 2010) and nboot with 256mb board, but
I have a A70 touch screen, not a T35 ...

Matt_damon, do you have a nboot_A70.bont for my board?

thanks a lot

Eduardo
Matt_damon,

Thank you, now my T35 is working with wince5, do you have A70 too.

And the nboot sources for these T35 and A70.

Best Regards.

matt_Damon
Can you try this and post the results..

Also if someone knows the procedure to upload these files onto this website
please do

Eduardo
matt_Damon,

The wince5 A70 worked with your nboot.

Thanks a lot

This nboot works very weel as this:
http://www.friendlyarm.net/forum/topic/478 ...
but my problem persists: winCE is slow with my 256mb board ..
I put my image created with PlatformBuilder here if someone wants to use it
and gives me help ....

thanks

matt_Damon
I am not sure about the BSP..so try using the same image which you used for
64MB flash

The image for 64/128/256MB Flash MINI2440 is the same.

jeangr
hi matt_damon
with my image and your nboot, how does your board with 256mb work? Slowly?

I use this BSP
http://www.friendlyarm.net/dl.php?file=wince5-bsp_20100202.zip

matt_Damon
I believe I had problem with this BSP... try this BSP

http://rapidshare.com/files/399339336/wince-bsp_20090821.zip.html

It is the previous verison of BSP also available on this website

jeangr
I tried all ways with the last BSP (2010) ... Now I try the 20090821_BSP
..

mindee
before you install 2010's nboot & wince into the nand, please check the
supervivi version in NOR flash, it should be 0945-2K or 0945-12

jeangr
yes,Version: 0945-2K

in this guide http://www.friendlyarm.net/dl.php?file=download.pdf is
written that I have to insert a supervivi with V comand.
Is it necessary? I see no changes

mindee
Hi, jeangr
For v command , Supervivi or nboot both are available, If you are not sure
the boot version, I suggest supervivi. It don't support to show bootlogo.

jeangr
thanks
maybe I found the problem. With a taskManager for winCe I see that the
device.exe process uses 99% of cpu with 50/60 threads ...
This happens with 2009 and 2010 bsp with my 256mb board ...

Why?

jeangr
with a 128mb board my image works well ... there is some hardware change
between two boards

jeangr
in other my images created with PB, services.exe blocks my board to 100%
cpu usage ... it's crazy!

jeangr
maybe, I hope, I found the problem: ActiveSync daemon/process was blocked
if I didn't sincronized Wince with my PC ....
