Hi folks, I looked at the last mini2440_manual but couldn't find out if it's safe to plug the 5V GPS (Holux) directly onto CON1 or CON2 or CON3 someone can tell about it ? PS : if someone has already done GPS with mini2440, I would also apreciate

You must first verify which interface is available in your GPS module. Some of them have both RS232 and TTL. You can use the signals at CON1..3 if your GPS has TTL compatible interface. Stay away of the DB9 connector (COM0) though as this one makes use of the RS232 level translator. I took a look at Holux website and they have a lot of models. Which one is yours?
Yes I should add precisions : " The GPS module consists of SiRF star III chipsets technology, LNA and proprietary software." A GR 87 from Holux http://en.stkshop.com/Components/GPS-module/HOLUX-GR-87.html and http://www.holux.com/JCore/UploadFile/2305947.pdf At the end of the Spec it's told about both CMOS 3.0 and RS-232 but just before "the ouput signal is CMOS 3.0 positive signal" ...
Hi Mouha, I use GPS, but an 'USB GPS mouse'. Usage is very easy, pluging into USB and I can read the NMEA sentens. No worry whith voltage level etc. The only thing that I had to do was compiling a new kernel with USB modem driver activated. skip
Hi mouha, Yes, you can get connect module directly to CON1, CON2 or CON3. Those are CMOS 3.3V which should be fine with your 3V module. I also run a ublox LEA-4A module from one of those connectors... Thank you, Errol
Skip2816 : I will try this interesting USB adaptation as soon as I get the right connector. Errol : your module is really good, in addition you have USB output to use. Do you use any NMEA parser / software or is it your own ? Thanks to you both for the answers.
