scanner
scanner A scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in hand-held, feed-in, and flatbed types and for scanning black-and-white only, or color. Very high resolution scanners are used for scanning for high-resolution printing, but lower resolution scanners are adequate for capturing images for computer display. Scanners usually come with software, such as Adobe's Photoshop product, that lets you resize and otherwise modify a captured image. Scanners usually attach to your personal computer with a Small Computer System Interface ( SCSI ). An application such as PhotoShop uses the TWAIN program to read in the image. Some major manufacturers of scanners include: Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Microtek, and Relisys. Hope this helps..now please help me :) luv kevin
I asked because you could also be talking about barcode scanner or radio scanner or one or two others... :-) Have you looked at SANE? I don't know if it can be cross compiled... http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-usb.5.html
hmm.. i'm using my scanner with sane on my host system.Dont know what it takes to do that on mini2440.have read quite a lot of man pages related to sane and found out about backend and frontend stuffs. When i plug in my scanner to mini i get some lines on the console which tells about the scanner its product and vendor id's.So i guess mini is detecting the scanner.Dont know how to proceed further.Guess sane doesnt work for ARMlinux. anyway thanks for the post. kevin
